Abstract

785,956. Luggage with an adjustable strap. BATES, A. Nov. 22, 1955, No. 33338/55. Class 109 [Also in Group XVII] A retractable strap attached to hand luggage to enable it to be carried from the shoulder is made of woven fibre, leather or other durable and pliable material. The ends of the straps are secured to links which are riveted close the the outer angles of the upper surface of the luggage. On the straps are two buckles x, y having a sliding bar b so that they are self locking under tension. Additional links d may be fitted to the buckles. To thread the strap through the buckles, it is first passed under the bar a of buckle x over the sliding grip b, under the bar c, and under the link d, along the case and under and through the link d of the buckle y, along the case and over the first layer of buckle x, through the link d, and back to buckle y where it passes over the sliding link d, under the bar c, over the sliding grip b and under the bar a. To lengthen the strap, the buckles are moved towards the centre of the case.
