Abstract
Dialysis is promoted by adding to one of the dialyzing liquids an agent which adsorbs, reacts with, or decomposes the dialyzed substance so as to prevent its rediffusion. Examples are: (1) methylene blue is completely abstracted from an aqueous solution by dialysis into water to which active charcoal has been added; (2) an alumina gel is freed from sulphuric acid by dialysis into barium carbonate suspension.
