Abstract
Isoxazole-carboxylic acid dialkylamides are prepared by treating isoxazole-carboxylic acids or their reactive derivatives with secondary alkylamines. The products are useful therapeutically. According to the examples: (1) 3 : 5-dimethylisoxazole-4-carboxylic acid is converted by means of thionyl chloride into its acid chloride, which is then treated with diethylamine or dimethylamine to give the corresponding amide; (2) 5-methylisoxazole-3-carboxylic acid is heated with phosphorus pentachloride and the resulting acid chloride reacted with diethylamine or dimethylamine; (3) 3- or 5-methylisoxazole-4-carboxylic acid diethylamide is prepared by first converting the acid into its acid chloride with phosphorus pentachloride and then heating with diethylamine. 3- or 5-Methylisoxazole-4-carboxylic acid is obtained by saponifying the reaction product of ethoxymethylene-acetoacetic acid ester with hydroxylamine.
