Abstract

451,471. Sash windows. GRIGNET, A., 72, Rue Vinave, GrivegnÚe, Belgium. Nov. 4, 1935, No. 30474. Convention date, Nov. 3, 1934. [Class 20 (iii)] Sashes of the kind lying on the same plane when closed are engaged by a bowed spring draught excluder 15 engaging the vertical stiles of both sashes and are secured by sliding bolts 17 and recessed top and bottom rails engaging correspondingly recessed lintel 6 and sill 3. Each sash is balanced by one weight 7 the weights being on opposite sides. The sash cord passes through a pulley 13 in the yoke 14 attached to the weight and is guided to be secured by its ends to the sash on opposite sides by the pulleys 8, 9. The sashes have catches 18, 23 which may be engaged in the groove 20 for sliding or may be withdrawn to permit of tilting the sashes for cleaning &c. When the sash weights are increased for wider sashes, one guide pulley 9, Fig. 5, is adapted to be shifted outwardly to alter the cord line. The yoke 14 has bent ends to engage the lintel when raised.
