Abstract

[Class 38 (iv)] Fluid level.-In apparatus for electrically emptying a container such as a sewage sump a in which a pump is driven by an electric motor g started and stopped by an electromagnetic switch d controlled by contacts which energize the switch at a predetermined level and in which a locking circuit is closed by the switch until a predetermined low level is reached, the contacts b, c, h consist of electrodes in the container which come into direct contact with the material handled by the pump. Alternating current is used in the control circuits to avoid electrolysis. One of the electrodes is preferably the suction inlet pipe of the pump. The locking circuit may comprise a separate winding on the electromagnetic switch.
