Abstract

448,645. Reflectors for street &c. lamps. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Feb. 6, 1935, No. 3839. Convention date, April 18, 1934. [Class 75 (ii)] Part of a street-lighting or like reflector, which is symmetrical with respect to two planes intersecting in the reflector axis M F, is formed by two partial paraboloids A B, C D extending on either side of a plane KL normal to the axis MF, which plane contains the lower end of the elongated light source 2 and the foci of the paraboloids, so that the light rays reflected by these paraboloids are directed through the reflector opening, and part of the reflector is formed by a parabolic body of revolution having an axis of rotation which lies in the plane KL. The common focus F of the paraboloids lies at the end of the light source, and BF, DF are the axes of the paraboloids. The body of revolution is formed by the rotation of a parabola, with its focus at F and lying in a plane perpendicular to that of Fig. 2, about its parameter. Triangular parts CNA at the sides of the reflector may be cut away. The reflector may be of silvered glass or of metal coated with silver or white enamel.
