Vehicle lamps; shop windows, lamps for lighting; lantern door fittings.-A light-projector of small depth and capable of producing a parallel or diverging beam suitable for use as a vehicle lamp or for lighting shop-windows, comprises a hyperbolic reflector so arranged with respect to a thin prismatic lens which is convex in form and of great focal length, as to leave just enough space for an electric lamp bulb the centre of the filament of which coincides with the focus of the reflector. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a hyperbolic reflector 2 of polished metal or silvered glass has its axis O-O<1> downwardly inclined with respect to the axis X-X of the projector, and a prismatic lens 3 is carried by a frame 4 pivoted at 5 and held in position by a locking device 6. The lens 3 has a smooth inner face 7 which is circular, its centre of curvature coinciding with the virtual focus O<1> of the reflector, whilst the outer face 8 comprises a smooth central portion A surrounded by prisms adapted to concentrate the reflecter rays into a parallel beam D parallel with the axis O-O<1>. An opaque or reflecting band 11 may be formed on the bulb L so as to intercept extreme direct rays such as OR. The projector may be circular, the reflector being hyperboloidal, the lens spherical with annular prisms, and the filament as far as possible along the common axis O-O<1>, or it may be elongated, the reflector being cylindrical, the lens cylindrical with rectilineal prisms, and the filament as far as possible along the focal line passing through the point 0. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a hyperboloidal reflector M has its axis coincident with the axis X-X of the projector, and its central portion C, C<1> is made spherical with its centre of curvature coincident with the focus O of the hyperboloid, whilst the central portion of the lens F is provided with internal and external annular prisms P, P<1>.
