Abstract
447,794. Junction boxes. HENLEY'S TELEGRAPH WORKS CO., Ltd., W. T., 11, Holborn Viaduct, London, and LEGGE, W. A., 15, Eldon Street, Glasgow. March 18, 1935, No. 8362. [Class 38 (i)] A junction box for selectively interconnecting four multicore cables, two of which enter the box at either end, comprises two rows of cable contacts arranged parallel to the run of the cables on either side of a double set of bus-bars arranged in nested fashion, each core being connected to a pair of contacts in the same row. The bus-bars 6 terminate in vertical portions projecting through insulators 14 to form contacts 9. The cable connectors 10 have U-shaped members 11 extending vertically through insulators 14 to form contacts 13 in line with the contacts 9 so that bridge connections may be made by fuses 26 or other links 25. The four cables may thus be connected together in pairs as desired, or all four may be connected together. The cable connectors 10 are of different length and are provided with sockets 23 projecting on either side to support the cores. A fifth core 28 of smaller cross-section is led to a cable connector 29 comprising a bent strip of metal which itself forms the pair of cable contacts. These contacts are located at the centre of the box.
