Abstract
447,025. Road-traffic signs. BRYAN, W., Chesterfield College Road, Norwood, and GOOD MOTOR PATENTS, Ltd., 30, Ludgate Hill, both in London. Nov. 19, 1934, No. 33254. [Class 3 (ii)] A road sign, particularly for marking pedestrian crossings, comprises a pillar or column on which are mounted vertical plates which are shaped and arranged so that they extend in semicircular form from a common axis and collectively present a spherical shape. Fig. 2 shows one embodiment in which circular plates a, b, provided with radial slots, are set across one another. In another embodiment, Figs. 4, 5, the circular plates c are bent centrally at right angles and supported between uprights e on the pillar d. In a further embodiment, Fig. 7, four semicircular discs f are supported by lugs 1, 2, 3, 4 on a square-section member on the pillar. The faces of the discs may be ribbed or corrugated, or provided with glass or like reflectors.
