Abstract

[Class 44] A lock comprises a casing 10 provided with two or more slots 11 to receive two or more loops 12 on the keeper 13. Two or more bolts 14 carried by a sliding plate 15 are projected across the slots and through the loops when the plate 15 is moved vertically in guides 17 by a crank 27 operated by a knob 26 or by a crank 28 operated by a key cylinder 24. A tumbler 32 pivoted on the plate 15 at 31 engages a fixed lug 21 on the casing 10 in the two extreme positions of the plate and prevents the lock being forced. It is disengaged from the lug during the actuation of the plate 15 by the crank 27 or 28 engaging a lug 35 thereon. The plate is actuated by the cranks engaging arms 30 on the plate. A chain 46 may be combined with the lock, one end being connected to the buffer while the other end carries a head 36 sliding in a guide 37 on the lock casing. The head may be moved out of the guide by a pin 39 adapted to be actuated by the key crank 28 through lever 42 and link 40 when the key is turned to open the lock.
