Abstract
446,443. Reclining-seats. MATTHEWS, B., Catherine Wheel House, Brentford, Middlesex. Nov. 27, 1934, No. 34089. [Class 52 (ii)] A reclining seat comprises a horizontal frame a supported at one end by feet c and at the other end by an angularly adjustable head frame e to which the main frame is pivoted at points offset from the plane of the head frame through the medium of triangular elements h. The head frame extends above the main frame and carries, by a rod o adjustable in holes p, one end of the canvas l the other end of which is attached by a rod m to the forward end of the main frame. The feet c may be rigidly mounted on the main frame or pivoted so as to fold, and the head is held in adjusted position by arms i pivoted to the main frame and having notches k adapted to engage a transverse member g of the head frame. A cross-bar s, which may be covered with sponge rubber, supports the legs of the user and also forms an abutment to limit the movement of the feet c. The triangular elements h may comprise castings or the parts e may themselves be triangular.
