Abstract
446,188. Gas fires. RUSSELL, E., Brent Knoll, Duffield Road, Derby. Nov. 13, 1934, No. 32619. [Class 126] A gas fire comprises a front frame, consisting in the form shown of side uprights 15 and a bottom cross-member 16, to which is removably secured a substantially horizontal platform 19 which supports the radiants and a back brick 26 on its upper face and carries below it a burner and injector unit 24. In the fire shown, a front plate 10 is attached to the frame by sliding the upright sides 15 of the latter into channels formed by lips 14 bent rearwardly from the vertical edges of the fire opening in the front plate, and is secured by bolting to lugs 17 on the frame. The platform 19 fits under shoulders formed in the lower ends of ribs 18 on the upright frame members 15, and is removably secured by screws to bosses 22 on the frame. The front of the platform extends to the front of the fire, and is formed with a flange 20. The back brick 26 is held in position on the platform by a flexible band 31 attached to the side members of the frame, and is provided with recesses 33 in the sides for the ends of a cross-bar 34 which holds the upper ends of the radiants in position. A sheetmetal casing (not shown), fits over the back of the firebrick, and may have inturned edges engaging rebates in the sides 15, while its lower edges slide down into recesses 35.
