Abstract
445,081. Typewriters. PAIL LARD & CIE, SOC. ANON., E., Yverdon, Vaud, Switzerland. Jan. 29, 1935, No. 22008. Convention date, July 30, 1934. Divided out of 445,059. [Class 100 (iv)] Letter - spacing mechanism; spacekey actions.-An escapement - wheel 129, provided with a feed-pinion 130, cooperates with interengaging pawls 138, 132 mounted on separate pivots and connected by a spring 140, the pawl 138 being engaged by rods 104, 107 in connection with the space-key and universal bar respectively. The teeth 139 of the escapement-wheel have non-radial flanks 100 for engaging the pawls. On operation and release of the spacekey or the printing-keys, the pawls 138, 132 are engaged and released, and vice versa, and letter-spacing is effected. The mechanism is mounted on a plate 121 adjustably secured to a cross-bar by screws passing through slots 123. Bell-cranks, arranged between the rods 104, 107 and other rods connected to the spacekey and universal bar, are arranged at the side of the machine. Back-spacing mechanism.-The escapementwheel 129 co-operates with a pawl 144 on a bell-crank 142 engaged by a rod 111 in connection with the back-spacing key. The pawl is held in disengaged position by a pin 147, and another pin 149 limits movement of the pawl.
