[Class 83 (i)] Casting processes.-A copper or other ingot is formed by pouring the metal into a covered mould 1, allowing it to overflow when close to the cover to prevent it from touching, and allowing the whole to cool with the cover in position. The iron mould 1 has overflow channels 2 and a cover 3 which is recessed or of H-section so that it is spaced about <3>/16 of an inch from the face of the molten metal when the mould is filled. In a modification, two or more ingots are cast in a single mould.
