[Class 38 (v)] [See also Group XI] An electric heating-element in a water receptacle A beneath a sterilizing-chamber B is provided with an external switch or cut out which interrupts the current supply when the water in the bath falls below a predetermined level. Floats E at the sides of the flat vertical heating elements C are secured to levers F which, when the floats fall, tilt a lever H carrying a mercury tube switch J. The lever H passes through a flexible fluidtight sleeve M. In a modification, a fuse in a terminal connection is melted by the rise in temperature of the heating-element due to the fall in the water level.
