442,789. Clips and clamps. WHITE, J., 110, Portland Road, Hucknall, and HATTON, J., 75, Main Street, Newthorpe, both in Nottinghamshire. Oct. 9, 1934, No. 28837. [Class 44] A gripping device, particularly for supporting sheets of material, hides, &c. during treatment or drying, comprises a pair of crossed members A, B pivoted together at C, one end of member A being pivoted to a support D at E, and one end of member B being slidably connected to support D by stud F and slot B<2> to allow rising and falling movements which respectively open and close the free ends of members A, B. These ends co-operate to effect grip on the material and may be provided with jaw members A<1>, B<1> of suitable width and of serrated or curved form, or provided with rubber pads. Members A, B may be stamped out of sheet metal.
