Abstract

440,544. Finishing moulded pulp articles. MARGUERAT, R., and CHEVRIER, M., 7, Rue Carves, Montrouge, Seine, France. May 24, 1935, No. 15163. [Class 87 (ii)] Hollow articles produced from paper pulp are finished in an apparatus comprising an expansible water-bag 13 adapted to be positioned within the article 1 in a mould 2, and a cylinder system 15 arranged adjacent the water-bag and having a piston 17 adapted to force water into the bag, the whole assembly being placed between the platens 10, 11 of a hydraulic press. The upper edge of the water-bag is clamped between a ring 5 and the cylinder 15. In operation, when the platen 10 is depressed, the ring 5 rolls over the edge of the pot 1 and the piston 17 then descends and expands the bag 13 against the article to calender it against the mould. When the pressure is released the spring 19 returns the plunger 17. A number of moulds may be operated simultaneously. Specification 440,543 is referred to.
