[Class 83 (iv)] In a power-driven hammer of the type in which a hammer head is reciprocated between vertical guides by means of a crank, an electric motor drives through reduction gearing e, belt f, a pulley g mounted on a shaft h with a friction clutch i between the pulley g and the shaft. A brake j controlled by a treadle operates on the shaft. A connecting-rod is in part made up of a pair of spring rods l provided with rollers n engaging concave surfaces o in the hammer head thereby providing aresilient connection between the hammer head and the driving means.
