439,933. Stabilizing ships. FERNHOLZ, E., 5, Hohenzollernhorso, Tempelhof, Berlin. May 29, 1935, No. 15653. [Class 113 (i)] For reducing rolling &c., reaction forces of varying magnitude and operated alternately in accordance with the roll of the ship are applied at a point situated substantially above the deck of the ship. For example, the pump 3 delivers air through the conduits 5, 6 alternately to nozzles 9, 10 situated at the mast head. The pump is controlled by valves 7, 8, which are operated in accordance with the roll of the ship, for instance by providing a U-shaped tube partly filled with mercury and provided with a series of electrical contacts.
