Abstract
438,158. Gas holders. WIDLAKE, H. C., 51, Headland Park, Plymouth. Sept. 6, 1934, No. 25633. [Class 54] The height of a spirally guided gas holder is indicated by rotary movement of a shaft F operated by a rope a which passes from a fixed point A on the upper lift over sheaves B, B<1>, C, C<1>, D, D<1> on the lift curbs and sheaves E, E1 on the top of the tank to a wheel G on the shaft F and then over a tensioning device to an anchoring point J on the tank. The tensioning device may consist of a pair of multiple sheave blocks. the upper block H being attached to the tank and the lower block I carrying a weight. The shaft F may operate an indicating dial or scale, the pen mechanism of a recorder, or an electrical mechanism indicating or recording its displacement at a distance. The apparatus may be used for holders of the unidirectional type.
