Abstract
<PICT:0437968/III/1> Relates to apparatus for use in glazing bricks, tiles, or the like in which the articles are carried by a conveyer under a container from which glaze is delivered through an outlet on to the articles. According to the invention the glaze is fed through the outlet on to an inclined deflecting-plate and is discharged obliquely on to the articles in a direction opposite to that in which they are moving. The conveyer comprises a pair of wires 15, Fig. 1 which pass around pulleys 17, 22, 24, and through a water bath 23 to wash off any adhering glaze. The container 10, mounted above the wires 15, has a flat base through which a slot 31, Fig. 4, is formed. Two bars 32, 33, attached to the underside of the conveyer, form an outlet to the hopper, the space between them being adjustable by means of screws. A pivoted handle, the inner end of which is formed as a cam, is also provided for closing the outlet instantly. The bar 32 is also provided with an inclined deflecting plate 37, the lower edge of which is bevelled off to a thin edge. The glaze flows from the outlet on to the plate 37 and is discharged on to the articles. The container 10 is fed from a reservoir 41, and surplus glaze falls into a receiver 43 whence a pump 44 forces it back to the reservoir.
