Convention date, Oct. 20, 1933. [Class 140] The plies of a compound fabric are united by a thin, discontinuous, rubber, adhesive layer comprising vulcanized and unvulcanized portions. The surfaces to be joined are each coated with a discontinuous layer e.g. stripes of rubber mixture, the mixture coated on each ply containing only a part of the vulcanizing ingredients, so that on uniting vulcanization only takes place where the stripes &c. intersect or overlap. One mixture may comprise rubber, calcium carbonate, titanium oxide, paraffin, sulphur, and toluene, and the other rubber, titanium oxide, zinc oxide, tetramethylthiurammonosulphide, paraffin, and toluene. The fabric is suitable for making footwear or clothing.
