Abstract
436,743. Roller mills for rubber &c. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., 32, Osnaburgh Street, London, WILLSHAW, H., and BLANCHARD, L. S., Fort Dunlop, Birming- ham. May 10, 1934, No. 14119. [Class 70] [See also Group II] Relates to roller mills and the like, for working rubber and like material, of the kind having lateral guides for keeping the material on a prescribed part of the rolls. According to the invention, the fixing of the guides after lateral resetting, and the radial movement to reset the guides in contact with the rolls, are both effected by the same cam-clamp or like device. As shown, each guide 8 is slidably mounted on a crossbar 5 by means of an elongated hole 14. Surrounding a boss 13 on the guide and mounted a good fit on the bar is a bifurcated eccentric 19 engaging abutments 15 on 'the guide. When, after lateral adjustment of the guide, the handle 17 of the eccentric is lowered, the eccentrics force the guide towards the rolls thus clamping it on the bar and bringing it into contact with the rolls. The part 7 of the guide which fits into the nip of the rolls may be, as shown, a separate plate adjustably mounted on the body part 8.
