Abstract

435,538. Hulling oats &c. PARNALL, J. B., and VEITCH, W. W., 75, Mark Lane, London. May 7, 1934, No. 30872/33. [Class 58] Oats or the like are fed by a conduit 16 into the interior of a rotary vaned member 3 by which they are thrown in thin streams against inclined ribs or projections 2 arranged on the inner side of a casing 1. Small deflecting plates 4b may be fitted between the vanes 4 of the member 3. The oats are then air carried from the casing 1 through a coned member 7 to the middle of a second rotating member 9 provided with inclined outlets 10 through which the grain is thrown against ribs 12 arranged in herring-bone fashion on the inner wall of a casing 11. The treated oats are carried by an air current to a settling chamber and then the groats and hulls separated pneumatically.
