[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 1, 1935.] [Class 60] [See also Group XXVI] A centrifugal sandblast apparatus comprises a number of rotating throwing-blades 100 spaced from their centre of rotation to accomrnodate an axially-extending nozzle at the end of a feed-pipe 407, the abrasive being formed by a blast of air or mechanical means through the nozzle into the path of the blades at a predetermined angular position, so determining the are over which the abrasive is discharged at the periphery of the apparatus. In the apparatus shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the feed nozzle comprises a neck 411 having V-shaped side plates 420, 421 extending at right-angles to it. Fixed and angularlyadjustable end walls 422 and 424 respectively extend between the plates 420, 421, the peripheral length of the discharge opening being varied by angular adjustment of the wall 424. The abrasive may be conveyed by air blast through the pipe 407, and a screw conveyer 408 may also be used. An air-blast nozzle 436 may eject the abrasive through the discharge nozzle on to the blades. The discharge nozzle, from which the abrasive emerges in a substantially radial direction, is angularly adjustable to vary the position at which the abrasive is thrown from the periphery of the apparatus.
