434,278. Television. RADIOAKT.- GES. D. S. LOEWE, 10, Wiesenweg, Steglitz, Berlin. Feb. 26, 1934, No. 6149. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1933. [Class 40 (iii)] Synchronizing impulses are transmitted on the same carrier as the picture signals, and no picture signals are transmitted during the transmission of synchronizing signals. The synchronizing signals are produced optically by a clear margin on a film with a picture of less width than the aperture spacing of a scanning disc. The clear margin is strongly illuminated by an appropriately shaped beam of light. The film with the light margin may be projected on the scanning disc on a slightly reduced scale so that the total area corresponds with the normal area of the film. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also describes producing the synchronizing signal by a gas-discharge tube as described in Specification 431,521. Whena separate photo-electric cell 25 is used for generating the synchronizing signals, the latter control, directly or through tuned circuits, a gas-discharge tube 31 with a parallel condenser which short-circuits the picturesignal amplifier 27, during the transmission of synchronizing signals. A rotary switch may be used instead of the gas discharge tube. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
