Abstract
434,135. Vehicle windscreens; hinges. MORRIS MOTORS, Ltd., and PRIESTLEY, G. A., Cowley, Oxford. March 8, 1934, No. 7386. [Class 103 (ii)] [See also Group XXV] A motor-vehicle windscreen is pivoted on a substantially central horizontal axis, inner and outer seating-surfaces being provided at the upper and lower parts respectively. In the form shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the movable frame e is pivoted at g, h to the lower end of a fixed frame member a, seating surfaces being provided by flanges b, j on the upper and lower parts of the fixed framing. Rubber &c. packing-strips c, k may be fitted against the flange b and a flange i on the lower part of the frame e respectively. For securing the device in adjusted position, set-screws o and slotted brackets n are fixed on the fixed and movable parts of the framing. A pivoted bolt q and nut r may be provided for securing the screen in the closed position. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the pivotjoint g, h is replaced by a pair of brackets u on the fixed frame having elongated lugs t engaging the curved slots in the brackets n.
