Abstract
433,476. Stropping &c. razor blades. CAM, V. R., 81, Bents Road, Sheffield. Feb. 27, 1934, No. 6358. Addition to 401,691. [Class 60] A machine for stropping, polishing, or burnishing razor blades comprises a frame 2 on which are supported, on guides 4 on beds 5, vertical housings 3 carrying brackets 6, 7 adjustable vertically on guides 8 by a screw 9 and a screwed sleeve 14 operated respectively by worm gearing 11 and 15 ; the housings are also adjustable horizontally on the guides 4. The brackets carry, in bearings 17, sleeves 18 rotatable in ball bearings and having coned inner ends to receive the coned ends of spindles 19 carrying stropping &c. discs 20 and driven through pulleys 21, 22 and belting from pulleys on shafting 25 on the frame 2. An endless band 31 passes over a driven pulley 32 and an adjustable pulley 33, and carries the blades past the discs 20, horizontal guides 38 on pillars 39 serving to retain the blades on the band during operation of the discs on the blades ; the blades are fed on to the band at 41 and removed on to a collecting-device 42. The bearings 17 are adjustable horizontally in the brackets and held by studs 43, and the spindles 19 are coupled to the coned sleeves 18 by bolts 44. The discs 20 may be of increasing diameter along the spindles, and the spindles are then set at an angle to one another. The machine may comprise one housing 3 only.
