[Class 135] For adjusting a valve such as a relief valve on a tyre inflating device, the exposure to pressure of the pressure actuated member is varied. A pump nipple 1 has an air passage 2 in which is secured a tube 3 screw-threaded at its rear end. A valve 5 is normally held against a flat valve seat by a spring 6 to prevent escape of air through ports 12 in the tube 3. The spring 6 is initially adjusted to the approximate desired loading by a nut 8 which is then soldered in position. Fine adjustment of the blow-off pressure is effected by radially movable sections 11 of the valve seat by which the area of the valve 5 exposed to pressure is varied, the sections 11 having pins 13 engaged by a scroll groove 15 on a ring 14 which is turned by a sleeve 19 having a scale 25. The sleeve 19 is held in position by a sleeve 17 screwed on the end of the tube 3, a pin 22 engaging a pin 23 on the ring 14 to confine the adjustment to one revolution of the ring. Passages 26 allow air to escape from the sleeve 17. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 adjustment may be effected by a disc swingable to and fro upon the valve surface. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
