Abstract
432,984. Photographic plates. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Feb. 12, 1934, No. 4633. Convention date, Aug. 11, 1933. Addition to 407,830. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 11, 1934.] [Class 98 (ii)] The carrier layers produced on the surface of aluminium or aluminium alloy according to the parent Specification are subjected, after formation, and before applying the light-sensitive material, to an intermediate chemical and/or thermal treatment to render them less brittle and more flexible. The treatment may consist in dipping the layers in cold or warm solutions of acids or alkalies or salts having an acid or alkaline reaction, e.g. phosphoric acid, chromic acid, acetic acid, citric acid and alums, carbonates, chromates, bichromates, chlorates, borates of the alkali or alkaline earth metals, organic compounds of aluminium or chromium, or metal soaps. The treatment may, however, be purely physical, e.g. dry heating, preferably at reduced pressure.
