[Class 80 (ii)] [See also Group XXXI] A simple Hooke's joint is adapted to yield approximately synchronous drive over a limited range of half-a-revolution, between inclined shafts A, B, the axes of. which are fixed in space, by displacing one of the shafts A from the axis of symmetry with respect to its fork C, so that the coupling cross E lies in the bisectorplane G of the angle between the shafts, when the latter are in the mid-position of their limited range of movement. As applied to steering a horizontal bicycle, the joint E is arranged between a steering-column B<1> and front-fork A<1>.
