431,483. Galvanic footwear. LESTER, J. H., 48, Berrylands, Surbiton, Surrey. Jan. 8, 1934, No. 2933. Divided application. [Class 81 (ii)] A boot or shoe has its insole recessed to contain a galvanic couple comprising strips of dissimilar metals such as zinc, copper, or platinum, insulated from the sole by a block of rubber or wool impregnated with rubber solution. One element of the couple may be built into each boot. The insole 1 is recessed in the region of the foot-arch to receive a bent strip 2 of zinc. A strip 3 of felt or other absorbent material, which may be impregnated with an electrolyte, separates the zinc from a copper plate 4 backed with a block 5 of rubber or rubber impregnated wool attached to a canvas or other layer 6 secured to the insole 1.
