Abstract
431,388. Surface carburetters. LOCKWOOD, W. C., 22, Bishop Avenue, Randwick, MORLAND, E. T., and MORLAND, L. E., 109, Willoughby Road, Crows Nest, both near Sydney, Australia. Jan. 1, 1934, No. 71. Convention date, June 20, 1933. [Class 7 (iii)] The suction of the engine draws air from a pipe 5 through perforated chambers 6 beneath the fuel level in a tank 3 into a pipe 4 connected to the inlet manifold. The fuel is kept at a constant level in the tank 3 by a float chamber 8 which communicates with the tank 3 through ports 13, 14 above and below the fuel level. Fuel passes from the tank 3 through a port 16 into a tank 15, from which it may be fed to a carburetter through a pipe 20. The tank 15 is subjected to the suction in the tank 3 through a port 18, and the pressure in the tank 15 is controlled by adjusted an air inlet port 23. The tank 3 may be provided with a pressure-relief valve 25 or with wire gauze to prevent any particles of liquid fuel from entering the pipe 4.
