Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] In a valve having a cathode, an anode, a control grid, and at least one helically wound screen or other grid, an intermediate point of the screen &c. grid is connected through the envelope to the external circuit, for example to the cathode, and is so chosen that when the valve is used as an amplifier, the electrostatic and magnetic coupling between the screen &c. grid and the control grid is minimized. The point may be not exactly in the middle of the screen grid so that the average voltage of the screen grid with respect to the control grid is kept constant.
