Convention date, Feb. 24, 1933. [Class 64 (ii)] [See also Group VIII] A heat-insulating block comprises a pack of corrugated sheets of paper 11, coated or impregnated with asphalt so as to be selfsustaining, the corrugations of adjacent sheets being at right angles to each other and the whole held together by stitching 14. The insulation is rendered moisture-proof by the asphalt, which may be added up to 50 per cent of the weight of the paper and may be replaced by montan wax, sulphur, coumar or other synthetic resin or gums. The insulation may also withstand the effect of fungi and insects by treating the paper with copper salts, arsenic compounds, chlorinated diphenyls or naphthalenes. In a modification, the corrugations of the sheets are themselves corrugated.
