Abstract

Alkylamine oleates such as butylamine, dibutylamine, ethylamine, and diethylamine oleates are prepared by reacting molecular quantities of the amine and oleic acid at ordinary temperatures.ALSO:Insecticides, fungicides, and the like are made by emulsifying an oil in water in the presence of an alkylamine oleate and an active substance, e.g. an organic mercuri compound or a tetra-alkyl thiuram sulphide. Butylamine, dibutylamine, ethylamine, and diethylamine oleates are suitable and are prepared by reacting molecular quantities of the amine and oleic acid at ordinary temperatures. They are used in amounts of about 1-10 per cent of the oil. Examples are given of emulsions made by mixing mineral oil solutions of ethyl or phenyl mercurioleate, ethyl mercurihydroxide, or tetramethyl thiuram monosulphide with aqueous solutions of butylamine oleate. Further examples describe the preparation of soluble oils by dissolving the alkylamine oleate in a mineral oil containing in solution ethyl mercuri-oleate, -acetate, or -phosphate, phenyl mercuri-chloride or -formate, or tetraethyl thiuram monosulphide. Such oils are emulsified by mixing with water.
