Abstract

429,700. Gravity separation apparatus. MILLS & CO. (ENGINEERS), Ltd., J., MILLS, M. W., and BOLTON, J. F., Moss Iron Works, Heywood, Lancashire. Jan. 11, 1934, No. 1043. [Class 111] Scum on the surface of sewage in a settling-tank is collected by a plate K suspended from a rotating bridge B and conveyed by blades j or scoops j<x> on an endless chain d, also supported by the bridge B, up a trough m delivering into a fixed annular trough G<1> connected by pipes G<2> to a central sludge-receiving chamber G. The chain d passes round rollers c<1> on brackets c pendant from joists b of the bridge and is driven by an electric motor g. The upper and lower runs of the chain are supported respectively by angle irons c<2>, c<3>. The scum plate K is attached to the member c<3>.
