Abstract

428,624. Hydraulic presses. HUMPHRIS, F., Park House, Park Road, Parkstone, Dorset. Nov. 21, 1933, No. 32423. [Class 69 (ii)] [See also Groups XXII and V] The ram m or the bed of a press has attached thereto co-operating wedges a, b, Fig. 1, or a, b, f, Fig. 8 which can be moved (by a hand wheel and screw c) relative to each other to adjust the effective height, after which they are clamped together by bolts e, the adjusting screw or rack being accommodated in grooves in the wedges and having a bearing in one of the stationary wedges. The screw is provided with a thrust collar C2 and locknuts c<1>. In a modification a central wedge is adjusted by a worm c, Fig. 8, and rack d<1>. The bolts e act as guide pins for the wedges and may be jointed midway.
