Abstract
428,138. Adjustable seats. GARRETT, W. C., 39, Hamilton Crescent, Palmers Green, London. Nov. 3, 1933, No. 30579. [Class 52 (ii)] In a chair of the kind having an adjustable back hinged to a sliding seat frame 2, a guide bar 5 is located under the seat and coacts with a positioning member 15 which comprises an intermediate fulcrum member resting on the upper surface of the guide bar, an upper member 14 pivotally secured to the under side of the seat, and a lower member 16 located under the guide bar. The positioning member may be in the form of a flattened S, a double rectangle as shown in Fig. 4, or of E-form. When the seat is loaded, the member grips the bar 5 and prevents sliding movement of the seat. The seat slides on a transverse member 4 or on the front ends of guide bars 5. The guide bars 5 are hinged to the fixed frame at the front and supported by springs 12 at the rear.
