Abstract

Drawings to Specification. [Class 100 (iv)] A transfer device comprises a sheet of paper impregnated with an oil and pigment ink and coated on one side with a metallic powder. The paper, preferably unsized uncalendered " water-leaf " paper, is either soaked in the ink, which may contain aluminium or bronze powder, or the powder is applied after inking. In either case the powder lies on the surface and acts to retard the transference of ink to the duplicate paper. The obverse side of the paper may be coated with pyroxylin lacquer to prevent marking of the back of the original sheet. The transfer material may be used in rectangular sheets, or in discs of the type described in Specification 403,011, which are rotatably mounted between the record sheets. The capillary nature of the paper transfers ink from the unused portions of the disc to the circumference, which is the only part used, the lacquer stiffens the disc, and the powder coating enables it to turn easily between the sheets. The lacquered side of the sheet may also be dusted with powder.
