426,759. Grinding piston rings. ISLER, F., 61, B÷ndlerstrasse, Kilchberg, Zurich, Switzerland. Aug. 27, 1934, No. 24668. Convention date, Sept. 7, 1933. [Class 60] A machine for grinding the end surfaces of piston-rings comprises two grinding-discs 1, 2 between the flat operative faces of which the rings are carried by an endless band 13 passing over rollers 15-17, one or more of which is driven. In the band are openings 24 in which the rings are received freely, the band being of less thickness than the rings, and guide rails 19, 20 being provided for the entering rings and rails 21, 22 for the finished rings; the rings are placed in the band by a device 18. The operative surfaces of the discs are slightly out of parallel according to the amount to be ground off the rings.
