Oct. 16, 1934, No. 29556. [Class 103 (ii)] [See also Group XXXI] In luggage-carriers for cycles and other vehicles wherein elastic bands or cords are provided for securing the luggage to the carrier platform, the elastic bands &c. are fastened at one end to the carrier frame and pass through guides having outlets near the platform, so that they can be drawn up out of the guide, stretched over the luggage, and fastened by hooks and eyes or other devices, their free ends on release being adapted to engage the outlet ends of the guides to prevent complete withdrawal through the guide openings. As shown, rubber bands 3 are normally enclosed in the hollow stays 2 of a cycle carrier, their lower ends being fastened at 4, and their upper ends being provided with clasps 5, which, when the bands are drawn out over the luggage on the platform 1, are fastened together as shown, or are attached to fixed hooks &c. on the carrier. Alternatively, the stays 2 may be of channel form with the openings facing inwards, the bands 3 passing through eyes or loops near the top ; or separate guide casings &c. may be secured to the stays.
