Abstract
424,974. Folding vehicles; huts. GEARD, F. N., The Hollies, Botany Bay, Enfield, Middlesex. Sept. 1, 1933, No. 24344. [Class 108 (i)] [See also Group X] In a vehicle the body is mounted on a chassis so as to be removable and also foldable, the floor and roof being adapted to be folded inwards to permit the sides to approach one another to reduce the lateral dimensions to a minimum. The body comprises side frames 1, 2 connected together by floor joists 4 hinged thereto and to each other so as to be foldable, together with the floor 3, inwards. Intermediate hinged stays 6 similarly foldable are linked to the joists by links 8. The roof comprises portions 12, connected by an intermediate portion 11 and by chains 16 to prevent undue outward pressure on the side longitudinals 15 by the stops 14. Foldable brackets 33 are provided. The side frames may be covered by rigid or non-rigid material, while when it is desired to close the ends by rigid material the closures may be in the form of double doors 18 with filling-in pieces 20-22. In the case of a removable rigid end the latter may have a shaped upper end slidable into position or hinged. The removable body may serve as a bathing hut.
