Abstract
424,041. Kinematograph apparatus. SCUPIN, W., 33, Wilhelmstrasse, Namslau, Silesia, Germany. May 7, 1934, No. 13798. [Class 97 (i)] In apparatus in which a film is wound into a drum by feed and pressure rollers, the film driving means is movable into and out of its operative position by movements parallel to the band in the drum. As shown, the drum consists of a subdivided ring 9 detachably connected to a bottom plate 4 carried by a spindle 3 within a bearing 2. The spindle 3 is driven through a belt pulley 8 and bevel wheels 7, 6, 5. A carriage 11, movable in a dovetailed guide, is provided with a support 12 for a verticallymovable member 15 carrying the axles of two driven film-feed rollers 18 and of a pressure roller 22. The rollers are connected by intermeshing gears 20, 21, and the spindle of one of them is connected by bevel gears 26, 27 to an extensible shaft 28, 29 driven through a belt pulley 32 and bevel gears 33, 31. The member 15 is pulled upwards by a counterweight 25 on a rope passing over pulleys 23. During threading, the carriage 11 is away from the drum and the weight 25 is supported. For winding, the film end is secured in a slot in the drum, the carriage is moved to the position shown, and the weight is released. The rotation of the drum may be stopped by pulling the wheel 6 out of engagement with the wheels 5, 7.
