Abstract

423,220. Flexible couplings. HAEBERLEN, E., 7, Bulacherstrasse, Ettlingen, Germany. June 14, 1934, No. 17628. [Class 80 (ii)] An elastic connecting-device for securing together machine parts such as gear-wheel rims and bosses, or tramway-vehicle wheels and coupled gear-wheels, comprises one or more radially-compressible split spring rings 1, 2 enclosing a damping-mass 7 such as indiarubber, and located edgewise between circular flanges 3, 4 on discs 5, 6 engaging the coupled elements 10, 11 as by central bosses 8, 9 entering recesses therein. Several such devices 13, Fig. 4, connect a toothed rim 12 to its shaft, through the medium of a shaft-flange 15, endplate 16 and a nut 18 screwing on the shaft. The hollow bosses 8, 9 may receive the reduced ends of bolts or pins fitted into bores in the coupled parts 10, 11 to hold the latter at the required distance from each other.
