Abstract
422,533. Tipping vehicles. TRUCK & TRACTOR APPLIANCE CO., Ltd., 18, Avenue Salvia, Merxem, Antwerp, Belgium. June 1, 1934, Nos. 16437 and 16438. Convention dates, Dec. 16, 1933 and Feb. 21, 1934. [Class 108 (i)] In road vehicles of the kind in which the body is arranged to be tipped about a horizontal tipping shaft the latter is supported by one or more' members adapted to move vertically relatively to the frame and means are provided for maintaining its parallelism with the frame. As shown the body 4 is tippable about a shaft 15 by known means comprising an hydraulic cylinder 5, levers 8, 10, and links 11 and the tipping shaft 15 is carried by the pistons of two hydraulic rams 16<1>, 16<11> all the cylinders being supplied with pressure fluid from a pump. Fig. 4 shows a compensating device comprising a cylinder 25 with pistons 26, 27 interconnected and carried by a rod 28, 29 connected at its ends to bell-crank levers 38, 39 the other ends of which have attached thereto cords 40, 41 passing over pulleys 42, 43 adjacent the ends of the tipping shaft 15 and connected to a drum 46 which is spring controlled to tension the cords 44, 45. The cylinder 25 is connected to the rams 16<1>, 16<11> by conduits 22, 23 and to the pump by conduit 21. Any canting of the shaft during its elevation owing to unequal load causes one or other of the cords 44, 45 to move the pistons 26, 27 to restrict or close one of the conduits 22, 23 allowing the pressure fluid to act on the ram supporting the lower end of the shaft.
