[Class 100 (ii)] Cylinder machines; tripping arrangements.- In a cylinder printing-machine having a double-width stationary bed 60 over which the web is passed in opposite directions in side-by-side runs, the cylinder 70 is reciprocated by a connecting-rod 84 carrying means for moving the cylinder into and out of impression position. Slotted cams 90 fixed to the connecting-rod 84 engage rollers 91 mounted in extensions of eccentrics 72 at each end of the cylinder 70, the rotation of the eccentrics by the movement of the rod causing the raising and lowering of the cylinder. Inking apparatus.-The inking-apparatus is mounted in a carriage 100 detachable from the cylinder carriage 88 by unscrewing bolts 102 so as to afford access to the bed 60 of the machine. A shaft 143 on the carriage 100 has gear wheels engaging a rack on the bed 60 and gears on shafts 1461 carrying axially-reciprocated distributing-rollers 146. Other rollers 148 convey the ink from a duct-roller 111 to the rollers 146, one of the rollers 146 being in contact with the inking-roller 155. The shafts of the rollers 148, 155, are mounted in eccentric bushings which can be secured by thumbscrews 153 with the rollers 148, 155 either in or out of contact with the rollers 146, the latter position being for cleaning purposes. An adjustable stop 130 on the carriage 100 engages a lever 123 to rotate the duct-roller 111 intermittently by means of ratchetgearing 120, 121. The web to be printed is fed through the machine and rewound or cut and folded as described in Specification 422,199.
