Abstract

421,957. Sewing machines. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO., Elizabeth, New Jersey, U.S.A. July 24, 1934, No. 21610. Convention date, May 12. [Class 112] In a rotary hook device provided with a circular raceway for the cylindrical bobbin case of the type described in Specifications 12609 /11 and 18023/11, [both in Claas 112], the bobbin case is provided with a bearing rib with a gap forming a stationary spur for detaining the needle loop seized by hook. The bobbin thread tension device is as described in Specification 370,304. The machine illustrated has the usual horizontal hook shaft 5 making two revolutions to each complete reciprocation of the needle 1. The hook shaft carries on a cupshaped body 6 having a raceway 7 for the bobbin. The raceway is cut away at one side to form a hook-seizing beak 8 with an inclined loop-spreading inner edge 9. The peripheral bearing rib 13 of the bobbin case element 14 is journalled in the raceway 7. The case has a loop detaining spur 16 and a flange 17 with a rotation-restraining notch 18 entered by a tongue 19 on the bar 20. The bobbin case element 14 has a bar 24 carrying the usual stud 25 by which the mating bobbin-case element 28 carrying the bobbin 29 and the under-thread tension device 30 is attached. A chamfer 31 on the bobbin case facilitates the spreading of the needle loop.
