Abstract
421,073. Cables. PIRELLI-GENERAL CABLE WORKS, Ltd., 343, Euston Road, London, and BISHOP, J. L., 358, Winchester Road, Bassett, Southampton. July 14, 1933, No. 20017. [Class 36] To obtain increased flexibility a flexible multicore electric cable of the type in which an even number of main or power conductors 4 and one earth or pilot conductor 5 are symmetrically arranged round a centrally located conductor 1 has the power-conductors connected together in pairs. The central conductor, preferably of large size, is in the form of several strands helically applied around a core 2 and then covered with rubber to form a centre for six split main cores and the earth core. The cable may be filled in and sheathed with tough rubber or the inner rubber sheathing may be enclosed by a metallic screen 7 constituting a secondary earthing conductor, this screen being enclosed by an outer tough rubber sheathing. In a modification, each main conductor core may be covered in a supplementary earthing screen.
