Abstract

To fine the grain of zinc, 0,3-5,0 per cent of an alloy of aluminium and manganese and/or titanium is added to the molten zinc. Examples of fining alloys are 0,4 per cent of aluminium and 0,2 per cent of manganese, or 4,33 per cent of aluminium, 0,31 per cent of manganese, and 0,11 per cent of titanium, the percentage being reckoned in relation to the weight of the fined zinc.
